Being an Admitting Supervisor monitors operational metrics to improve processes, increase efficiency, or correct problems. Prepares staff work schedules to ensure coverage and coordinate training and staff resources. Additionally, Admitting Supervisor follows all established policies and standards to preserve patient confidentiality, ensure data security and comply with all applicable regulations. As a Level 1 trauma center, this position is responsible for performing all registration functions, including the creation or confirmation of a medical record and account number. This position expedites and provides health care access through the accurate gathering of demographic, sponsorship or guardian data, as well as insurance, financial and statistical information from a variety of sources, i.e., patients, patients' families, physicians, physician office staff, county and/or government agencies. This position is responsible for processing patient/observation admissions for hospital emergency departments. This position ensures reimbursement for services being rendered through electronic verification of insurance eligibility/benefits, obtaining insurance authorization within a required time frame, and identification and collection of patient financial obligation. This position will use third-party payer resources, such as websites, to verify eligibility, gain authorizations and check the financial obligation of the patient. Takes an active role in decreasing account receivables by following established guidelines, regulations and policies during the registration process to increase the facility's first pass yield percentage and decrease account denials. Contributes to the facility point of service by creating estimates and collecting any monies due at the time service is rendered. This position is responsible for obtaining the necessary regulatory signatures for consent for treatment, financial responsibility agreements and HIPAA requirements. Consults and communicates with other hospital departments, as required, to maintain efficient patient care. This position is responsible for using the Passage point system to screen visitors and create security badges.
This position will work scheduled weekend shifts on a rotating basis in addition to regularly scheduled shifts.
