Follows standardized processes for admission procedures to ensure accurate data collection, a positive patient experience, and effective coordination between clinical and administrative teams. Being an Admitting Supervisor monitors operational metrics to improve processes, increase efficiency, or correct problems. Prepares staff work schedules to ensure coverage and coordinate training and staff resources. Additionally, Admitting Supervisor follows all established policies and standards to preserve patient confidentiality, ensure data security and comply with all applicable regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. POSITION SUMMARY
Under supervision, to admit and register patients, coordinate financial aspects of the patient’s hospitalization, cashiering and to do other related work required.
CLASS CHARATERISTICS
Incumbent in this class works without close supervision and within a framework of established procedures and is expected to perform with only occasional instructions or assistance. Incumbent may have frequent contact with other facility’s departments, which requires him/her to have knowledge of the policies related to the operation of the Admitting Unit.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:
Experience:
Six months to one year of clerical experience in a healthcare setting, or related medical environment preferred.
Education:
Completion of high school or equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Principles of computer control systems and modern office methods
Basic concepts of admitting, billing and collection language and procedures.
Fundamentals of key-disk data entry systems
AS 400 terminal use and operation.
Ability to:
Effectively communicate both orally and in writing to individuals and groups
Establish rapport with and maintain cooperative, productive working relationships with staff, volunteers, groups, and the community.
Establish and maintain necessary records and controls prepare reports, charts and correspondence.
Operate AS400 system, CRT, PC, Fax, photocopier and PBX.
Obtain and record accurate information.
