GENERAL INFORMATION
The Ellis County Community Supervision and Corrections Department (ECCSCD) provides community supervision services in Ellis County, Texas. The ECCSCD Director will be appointed by the District Judges and County Court at Law Judges of Ellis County trying criminal cases. The Director will be responsible for providing the overall management of the ECCSCD. The Director appoints assistants and other employees to carry on the professional, administrative, and other work of the ECCSCD.
The CSCD Director performs highly responsible correction and public administration work directing the overall operations of the CSCD, including all personnel, programs, grants, budgets, facilities, and contracts for services which are aimed at achieving the department's strategic objectives and mission statement.
The CSCD Director supervises and coordinates activities of department employees; develops administrative standards and procedures relating to personnel, including staff policies, job orders, and duty assignments of staff; establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet community supervision objectives; maintains overall responsibility for the supervision of misdemeanor and felony criminal offenders who are placed on adult probation within the parameters of state law and guidelines; evaluates measures to improve department operation; analyzes and resolves work problems; assists staff workers in solving work goals; initiates personnel actions such as promotions, discharges, and disciplinary measures; establishes and maintains relationships with other agencies and organizations in the community regarding policies and resources available for the treatment of offenders; provides and evaluates in-service training programs for all new and more experienced staff members; supervises collections restitution, fees, and fines; and, prepares and oversees budgets and financial duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
STATUTORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Several statutes and codes outline the duties, responsibilities, and expectations for the director, employees, and the department. The director will be responsible for maintaining the department's full compliance with all standards, statutes and ethics as detailed in the Texas Administrative Code, Government Code, TDCJ-CJAD Standards and Financial Management Manual as well as all other state and federal statutes.
For instance, pursuant to Section 76.005 of the Government Code, the department director shall perform or delegate the responsibility for performing the following duties:
(1) overseeing the daily operations of the department;
(2) preparing annually or biennially a budget for the department;
(3) negotiating and entering into contracts on behalf of the department;
(4) establishing policies and procedures for all functions of the department;
(5) developing personnel policies and procedures, including disciplinary proceedings; and
(6) establishing procedures and practices through which the department will address an employment-related grievance.
Additionally, the department director shall employ a sufficient number of officers and other employees to conduct pre-sentence investigations, supervise and rehabilitate defendants placed on community supervision, enforce the conditions of community supervision, and staff community corrections facilities.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Annual salary is commensurate with experience and determined by the Judges, within the range of $99,000 to $140,000 per annum.
