Adult Day Care Director creates and directs programs that address the health, psychosocial, and educational needs of older individuals and their caregivers and that provide clients a safe, secure, and positive daily experience. Responsible for recruiting, training, and retention of qualified staff. Being an Adult Day Care Director manages the financial operations for the center including billing, reimbursements, and budgets. I) INTRODUCTION:
Under the general administrative supervision of the Executive Director, is responsible for supervision, direction, and coordination of the preschool component of Project Reach Preschool and Early Intervention Center.
I) DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Under the supervision of the Executive Director, plans, coordinates and supervises all activities of the preschool component of the Center, including managing assigned budget, parent fee collection, and DFS contracts as well as personnel recruitment, selection, and training of all preschool staff.
2) Coordinates daily activities of classrooms to include appropriate lesson plans and developmentally appropriate activities, adequate classroom supervision, and appropriate classroom management techniques.
3) Performs all office duties to support regular preschool, early intervention and special education services components of the center.
3) Works as effective member of the preschool team. Offers support and assists special education personnel in establishing the most appropriate placement for children with disabilities.
4) Provides orientation and training to volunteers, staff and parents as necessary.
5) Maintains required records and information for DFS and the State Immunization Program.
6) Maintains enrollment as needed for the classrooms, and child-staff ratios as required by the State licensing agency, the Department of Family Services.
7) Ensures all requirements are met for Department of Family Services, including sanitation, fire, and licensing requirements, as well as requirements for the Child Care Food Program (if applicable).
8) Supervises all staff and volunteers working in the program, including performing annual employee evaluations and implementing performance improvement plans as appointed by Executive Director.
II) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field (early child emphasis) required. Minimum of one year experience working in a child care facility is required to meet DFS director requirements. A minimum of one year supervisory experience is preferred, preferably in an early childhood setting. Minimum age requirement is 21 years.
III) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be able to operate equipment typical in classroom and office settings, including assembling and dissembling toys and equipment. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and speaking with a variety of audiences including parents, professionals and community members. Must understand the federal and state statues and interpret rules and procedures. Should be organized and be able to work independently. Must be able to stand for long periods of time, lift up to fifty pounds, and be patient as well as agile in bending, walking other positions necessary for the care of children. Willingness and ability to travel in own vehicle throughout assigned service area.
