Adult Day Care Director creates and directs programs that address the health, psychosocial, and educational needs of older individuals and their caregivers and that provide clients a safe, secure, and positive daily experience. Responsible for recruiting, training, and retention of qualified staff. Being an Adult Day Care Director manages the financial operations for the center including billing, reimbursements, and budgets. Performs assessments of prospective clients to determine if programs will meet their needs. Additionally, Adult Day Care Director coordinates with caregivers, families, social services agencies, and medical professionals to plan clients program of care. Monitors programs to ensure effectiveness, quality care, compliance with applicable regulations and standards, and to identify areas for improvement or expanded program offerings. May be a RN with experience in gerontology. Requires a bachelor's degree of social science or a directly related field. Typically reports to top management. The Adult Day Care Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Adult Day Care Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Position: Adult Day Service Aide
FLSA Type: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Adult Day Service Nurse
Function:
Assists the Adult Day Service Coordinator in providing service to the elderly and/or disabled unable to remain alone at home during the day. Service includes recreation, socialization, transportation and meals.
Qualifications:
- CNA or Therapeutic Aide Certificate
- High school graduate or equivalent
- CPR and Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control training
- Must be professional with effective communication skills and a concern for the elderly. Requires the ability to accurately and efficiently collect and record information.
Principle Job Activities
- Assists Adult Day Service Coordinator in serving and feeding for breakfast and lunch.
- Takes daily attendance and maintains a daily nutrition log.
- Assists clients with daily needs including personal hygiene.
- Assists clients from wheelchairs or aids clients in walking. Must be able to properly use gait belt and physically lift clients.
- Assists with serving snacks. Maintains supplies. Cleans containers. Keeps inventory and informs Coordinator of ordering needs.
- Assists clients with purchasing groceries and scheduled activities.
- Relates issues and concerns from or about clients to Coordinator.
- Organizes materials for daily activities. Maintains neat and clean activity area.
- Compiles and maintains daily logs. Turns in to Coordinator in timely manner.
- Assists with emergency situations. Assists clients in orderly evacuation.
- Communicates essential information to appropriate staff.
- Supports the Y mission, policies, standards and procedures in all situations.
- Fulfills any functions designated by the Membership Director for the betterment of the program and the ability of the YMCA of Vincennes to meet its mission.

This position ensures that the YMCA Bettye J. McCormick Senior Center provides positive, professional service through the Adult Day Services program to help those in need of daily assistance remain in their homes with oversight.
