Additionally, Adult Education Teacher typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Adult Education Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Adult Education Teacher - Collin County Substitutes

  • Overview

    The Collin County Adult Education and Literacy Program is hiring substitute teachers for both English as a Second Language (ESL) classes and High School Equivalency (HSE) classes at various locations. These classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday and may be either morning or evening classes.  This position is funded by a grant through the Texas Workforce Commission.  The hourly pay rate for these classes is $24.00.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • 80%    Teaches multi-level HSE classes or ESL classes on an as needed basis as a substitute.
    • 10%    Prepares and submits lesson plans as needed.
    •  5%     Attends required staff meetings and professional development training.
    •  5%     Performs other job related duties.

     

    Performance Measurements:

  • Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations relating to higher education and grantadministration.
  • Works closely with program director, data coordinator and other staff to serve participants and comply withprogram requirements.
  • Stays current in the field of Adult Education and actively continues professional growth, including obtainingnecessary credentials to perform required duties.
  • Adapts as needed to ever-changing state and federal requirements.
  • Remains sensitive to socio-economic and cultural factors that influence student recruitment, retention, andsuccessful progress and completion of the program.
  • Promotes the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom.

    Qualifications

    • Six months to two years related previous work experience.
    • A Bachelor's degree. Some education coursework preferred.
    • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job.
    • Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
    • Proficient in the use of computers (internet, emailing, etc.) and office equipment (copier, scanner, printer, etc.).
    • Work includes sitting, walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, and travel to various classroom sites as needed.
