Salary: $38.75/hr.

General Description: Provide English language instruction, civics, employability and digital skills to adult speakers of other languages, maintaining a high standard of academic achievement as measured by CASAS testing. Grant-funded program.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide instruction and materials using Burlington English and supplementary materials to intermediate and advanced-level adult English learners, differentiated according to student needs
• Provide instruction in US History and government, US Citizenship, civic participation, basic math skills, and contextualized employability skills
• Help students improve digital skills in a real-life context
• Document unit plans and lessons that reflect curriculum guidelines and address diverse learning needs and styles in Google Classroom

Minimum Requirements:

• CT Certification – Non-English-Speaking Adults #088
• Bachelor’s Degree;
• Three semester hours of credit in methods of teaching English to speakers of other languages; and
• A course of study in special education comprised of not fewer than 36 clock hours, which shall include study in understanding the growth and development of exceptional children, including handicapped and gifted and talented children and children who may require special education, and methods for identifying, planning for and working effectively with special needs children in the regular classroom.

Prior teaching experience preferred
