Position: Adult Education Specialist
EMPLOYMENT: 11 Month Position

Qualifications:
- Must hold or be eligible for State of Delaware Teaching Certification –Adult Education preferred
- Knowledge of adult education programs (ABE, GED, ESL, and James H. Groves Adult High School).
- Experience teaching adult learners at various instructional and skills levels.
- Knowledge and experience of integrating technology into instruction and various education platforms.
- Ability to collaborate with staff, administrators, service providers, and students.
- Ability to coordinate and manage a workload to meet deadlines and address teacher and student needs and/or supports.
- Ability to work evening hours for a maximum of two hours per night.
- Knowledge of the LACES data system preferred.
- Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating teacher professional development.
Performance Responsibilities:
- The Specialist will be current with best practice and high-yield instructional strategies and instructional technology. The Specialist is responsible for supporting the state’s equity work and instructional priorities.
- The Specialist will serve as a resource to the program administrator to support and improve teacher performance. The Specialist may be integrally involved in providing support by conducting planning meetings, demonstration lessons, etc.
- The Specialist will facilitate all new teacher training as well as schedule “check-in” sessions up to four weeks after the conclusion of the initial training.
- The Specialist will assist in the completion of annual grants and the development of program budgets.
- The Specialist will manage enrollments and usage of all currently used learning platforms.
- The Specialist will conduct quarterly meetings (at a minimum) with ABE and ESL teachers. These meetings will consists of analyzation of current progress, discussions around current instructional practices, student needs/supports, on-going needs around curriculum and assessment, and action planning.
- The Specialist will communicate and meet regularly with the program administrator for the purpose of discussing core program materials, instructional technology, assessment results, instruction, etc.
- The Specialist will design and deliver high-quality professional learning in both a generalist and a specialist capacity
- The Specialist will participate in state-sponsored activities and will serve as a district liaison with the State in the assigned curricular areas
- The Specialist will assist the program administrator in the hiring and retention of teachers.
- The Specialist will administer pre/post TABE 11/12 assessment if scheduling conflict exists or a request for daytime hours is submitted.
- The Specialist will aid teachers in using student assessments to determine student skill levels as well as determine instruction plan and student groupings.
- The Specialist will manage student enrollments in the following programs: ABE, James H. Groves Adult High School, Wilmington Family Literacy, and Groves In-School Program.
- The Specialist will complete and upload weekly and monthly-required LACES reports.
- The Specialist will manage and act as a liaison between the program and community organizations for the programs student services referral system.
- The Specialist will provide technology support to both teachers and students.
- The Specialist will manage all technology services that are provided by the program as well as provide tech support and/or related trainings.
- The Specialist will create regular updates to the program’s social media accounts.
- The Specialist will perform other duties as assigned.
