Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed.     Job Description

    Torch Technologies, an employee-owned company, is seeking an Aerospace Engineer.  The Engineer will work supporting the Aviation Turbine Engines (ATE) Project Office.

    Responsibilities:

    • Perform technical, liaison and program management services for the Aviation Turbine Engines Project Office (ATE PO) T700/T55 Product Office
    • Perform technical analyses, program management services and fiscal management for Engineering Services Programs
    • Prepare Statement of Work (SOW) and Requests for Information papers for future engine projects.
    • Review and advise ATE PO on Changes in Design, Engineering Change Proposals, and maintenance procedures as they relate to the powerplant system of the Black Hawk and Apache helicopter.
    • Review and advise ATE PO on technical manual changes, Safety of Flight Messages, Aviation Safety Action Messages, Maintenance Action Messages, and Maintenance Information Messages.
    • Interface with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) to develop program airworthiness requirements, verification criteria, and evidentiary documentation. Review contractor submitted documentation for technical accuracy and coordinate the SRD review cycle. Synthesize SRD comments and prepare document contractual approval/disapproval recommendation to the contracting officer representative.
    • Perform technical evaluation of new source frozen planning documentation, coordinate with SRD and Quality Engineering, and communicate and resolve issues with the prime contractor.
    • Provide technical expertise in the inspection of engine parts, part rework recommendations, and troubleshooting of engine issues.
    Job Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2-5 years of relevant work/job experience
    • Desired minimum of 4 years’ experience with Army Aviation technologies, including propulsion, structure, dynamics, controls, mission equipment, electrical, weapons, and sustainment technologies; OASIS category Journeyman Engineer (62, 17-2199).
    • Experience working in or closely with an Army Aviation Project or Program office.
    • Experience in Program Management, contract actions, SOW/CDRLs and Integrated Master Schedule
    • Must have Secret Clearance

    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

    Strong oral and written communication skills.
