Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed.     Collins Aerospace is actively seeking a Principal Specialist 1st Party Auditor to support our Mission Systems team.

    This is an ONSITE position in Largo, FL and will support 1st party audits and product audits in Largo as well as other Mission Systems audits.

    This is an ONSITE position located in Largo, FL.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Perform Internal Audits at Mission Systems sites including Largo, FL, St. Petersburg, FL, Aberdeen, MD, as well as additional Mission Systems locations.

    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently and on a team.

    • Proficiency in various communication applications including MS Office, data analysis tools plus applied knowledge and daily use of root cause and corrective action tools.

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills must have demonstrated ability to work effectively with associates at all levels throughout the organization.

    • Perform periodic No-Knock Audits of production areas and engineering labs as planned.

    • Support DCMA and Customer Audits as applicable.

    • Coordinate and communicate audit schedules and plans with process areas and businesses, including detailed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd party audit agenda for the Largo Site and local No Knock Audit Surveillance Plans

    • Ensure sustainment of AS9100 requirements and visibility of any gaps across the organization and leadership. Monitor, control and reporting of audit program progress.

    • Obtain, analyze and evaluate documentation, data, reports, scorecards etc., for compliance and create meaningful information to be shared with senior management and sites.

    • Analyze audit results to assist with robust Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) activities and

    • ensuring the effectiveness of corrective actions through verification and validation

    • Escalate risk and issues for resolution as appropriate.

    • Interact and communicate with various groups and various levels of management.

    • Travel up to 50%.

    • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.

    • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

    • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

      The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with audit, compliance or quality systems experience in the Aerospace Industry

    • Lead Auditor Level 3

    • ASQ Certified Quality Auditor

    • QMS audit experience

    • Good understanding of AS9100 / ISO 9000

    The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
