Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed.     Ignite is currently seeking a driven, detail-oriented Aerospace Engineer to join our team supporting our government partner. This position is expected to be onsite within a government facility.  

      

    Responsibilities include: 

    • Analyze aerospace products as well as equipment specifications and performance requirements 

    • Review/assess new technologies for application to improving design of aerospace systems 

    • Receive design requests and draft designs 

    • Work collaboratively with team members to verify efficiency and functionality of designs 

    • Utilize drafting tools to test and verify designs 

    • Research and report on new technology implementations 

    • Coordinate with various departments and other staff on design projects 

    • Generate and deliver reports to managers and senior-level officers 

    • Travel to conferences and meetings related to ongoing and proposed projects 

    • Offer troubleshooting assistance to other engineers and staff 

    Job Requirements

    Job Requirements and Qualifications: 

    PhD with 5 years’ experience, Master’s with 8 years’ experience, or bachelor’s with 10 years’ experience 

    • Experience working with in Astrophysics 

    • Experience with software’s such as MATLAB, Python, and STK 

    • Experience with modeling and mathematics 

    • Advanced knowledge with foreign capabilities 

    • Knowledge in designs, development, and testing of structures and systems for aircraft, missiles, or spacecraft 

    • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment  

    • Strong technical writing and briefing skills  

     

    Security Clearance Requirements:  

    Must have an active Top Secret/SCI Clearance or the ability to obtain one. 

      

    Education Requirements: 

    Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Astrophysics 

      

    Other Requirements: 

    Must be a US citizen and be able to obtain and hold an active Security Clearance 

     

    Estimated Salary Range:  $75,000 to $175,000 depending on experience
