Primary Purpose:
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate (Agricultural, Food and Natural Resources preferred)
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Knowledge of FFA and Ag science practices related to position
Possession or ability to obtain industry certification related to the course taught (NCCER, etc)
Ability to prepare students for Ag related Industry Based Certification Exams
Ability to assist Lead Ag Teacher with Livestock shows, barn management and supervision
Ability to manage student projects raising livestock at AISD Ag barns
Ability to attend, supervise student field experiences
Ability to professionally collaborate with other CTE/Ag teachers, parents, district stakeholders for the benefit of the Ag program
Ability to work with the campus FHA booster club
Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, some days in summer
Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage budget, instructional materials and resources
Ability to participate in staff development and training to improve job related skills
Ability to comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for teachers
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
Salary: Teacher / 215 days
