Aircraft Electrician performs preventative and non-routine maintenance and inspections of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Uses manufacturer's reference documents, diagrams, and best practices to troubleshoot problems, identify the correct solutions and replace or repair components and parts. Being an Aircraft Electrician conducts quality testing, verification procedures, and required documentation of all completed work. Ensures compliance with all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Electrician typically requires an associate degree in aviation electronics, avionics or equivalent. Requires Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Aircraft Electrician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Maintain and repair the electrical systems in all North Slope Borough facilities and approved residential buildings area wide.
Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment.
Check and maintain fire alarms in facilities and buildings.
Observe safety standards and regulations.
Travel to and work within North Slope Borough villages.
Attend training to maintain and/or improve certifications and skills.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of North Slope Borough organization, operations, policies and procedures.
Skill in locating and correcting defects in electrical systems, components and equipment.
High school graduate or G.E.D/or, a combination of 12 years of education and related work experience.
State of Alaska Electrical Journeyman Certificate of Fitness;
Two years of electrical maintenance work experience;
Ability to obtain an Alaska driver's license that meets North Slope Borough insurance criteria within 30 days.
