Aircraft Electrician performs preventative and non-routine maintenance and inspections of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Uses manufacturer's reference documents, diagrams, and best practices to troubleshoot problems, identify the correct solutions and replace or repair components and parts. Being an Aircraft Electrician conducts quality testing, verification procedures, and required documentation of all completed work. Ensures compliance with all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Electrician typically requires an associate degree in aviation electronics, avionics or equivalent. Requires Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Aircraft Electrician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.           An Electrician is responsible for performing skilled level electrical work in Industrial construction, and maintenance.  The responsibilities for the position include, but not limited to installation, maintaining and repairing equipment. Capable of working at elevated heights, distinguish color differentiation for the purpose of identifying wire colors and color-coded safety.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience performing Industrial Projects required (Chemical, Pulp & Paper, Heavy Industrial)
    • Safely plan, layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and control equipment per NEC and customer specifications
    • Plan and install new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and codes with minimal to no oversight
    • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaws, porta-bands, pipe threaders and pipe benders.
    • Pull wire through conduit, assisted by Electrician Helper(s).
    • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using wire strippers, twisting or otherwise splicing wires together and applying tape or terminal caps.
    • Connect wiring to power equipment, using hand tools.
    • Install control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.
    • Connect power cables to equipment, such as motor, and install grounding leads.
    • Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using test instruments, such as ohmmeter, megger and oscilloscope.
    • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and needs for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
    • Perform other duties as necessary
    • Must be knowledgeable concerning types and uses of materials, parts, and assemblies used in electrical construction throughout the plant.
    • Must be knowledgeable concerning use of all tools, machines and other equipment involved in electrical construction. 

     Requirements:

    • Arrive at work on time, as scheduled, consistently, reliably, & complete each shift
    • Follow all safety rules and standards for the company and for the site
    • Understand and follow Instructions from the direct supervisor

      Education and Experience:

    • High School Diploma or Equivalency
    • Prefer 3-5 years’ experience as Commercial or Industrial Electrician

    The job requires occasionally remaining on one's feet in an upright position without moving for long periods of time, occasionally moving about on foot for long periods of time, remaining in a seated position for long periods of time, and/or climbing stairs, stepladders, extension ladders and scaffolding ladders. The job also requires the ability to raise or lower an object of approximately 5-40 pounds from one level to another, the ability to transport an object of up to 40 pounds a distance of up to 10 yards, usually holding it in the hands or arms, or on the shoulder, the ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves away from the force, and/or the ability to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and a negligible amount of force constantly so that an object moves toward the force.

    Must be capable of operating a standard 1/2-ton pick-up for occasional delivery and pick-up of materials and personnel and hold a valid, unrestricted motor vehicle operator's license issued by the state of residence, and the manual dexterity necessary to operate a standard desktop computer keyboard.
