Aircraft Electrician jobs in Omaha, NE

Aircraft Electrician performs preventative and non-routine maintenance and inspections of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Uses manufacturer's reference documents, diagrams, and best practices to troubleshoot problems, identify the correct solutions and replace or repair components and parts. Being an Aircraft Electrician conducts quality testing, verification procedures, and required documentation of all completed work. Ensures compliance with all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Electrician typically requires an associate degree in aviation electronics, avionics or equivalent. Requires Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Aircraft Electrician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     LOCATION - Travelling position: We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position, as it is a traveling position, but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. Tepa is a federal prevailing wage contractor. Pay rates will be determined by project and location.


    ABOUT THE JOB

    In this position, you will install, connect, test, and sustain electrical systems for a variety of purposes, including climate control, security, and communications. In addition, you will figure layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools.


    Responsibilities include:

    • Plan new or modied installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specications and local electrical codes.
    • Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and ooring.
    • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender.
    • Pull wiring through conduit, assisted by electrician helper.
    • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, using knife or pliers, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
    • Connect wiring to lighting xtures and power equipment, using hand tools.
    • Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
    • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
    • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
    • Repair faulty equipment or systems.
    • Cut and weld steel structural members, using ame-cutting and welding equipment.


    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR


    • Current journeyman electrician license
    • 5 years of experience as an electrician
    • Able to read blueprints, technical drawings, and diagrams and follow specifications
    • Solid working knowledge of industrial electrical systems
    • Working knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in electrical distribution and transmission system maintenance work
    • Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade
    • Considerable knowledge of the principles of electrical theory as applied to electrical circuits and wiring systems and ability to apply this knowledge to work situations
    • Skill in operation of the listed tools and equipment
    • Skill in the application of rst aid methods including articial respiration
    • Ability to follow proper methods, procedures and safety precautions
