Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises the maintenance operations of aircraft airframes and engines to ensure safe and reliable performance. Oversees routine servicing and preventative maintenance to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor evaluates technical requirements to determine the tradeoffs between the repair versus the replacement of components and the effect on cost and safety. Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor informs and trains aircraft mechanics on current information from manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Coordinates and schedules inspections and follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a manager. Responsibilities:
Responsibilities typically include setting goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results and ensuring policies, practices and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
Plan and coordinate maintenance engineering work, including review of mechanical and electrical engineering specifications
Perform engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts
Liaise with production staff to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules
Participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment
Supervise team to explore and implement continuous improvement/automation activities
Other duties as assigned
