Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises the maintenance operations of aircraft airframes and engines to ensure safe and reliable performance. Oversees routine servicing and preventative maintenance to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor evaluates technical requirements to determine the tradeoffs between the repair versus the replacement of components and the effect on cost and safety. Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor informs and trains aircraft mechanics on current information from manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Coordinates and schedules inspections and follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a manager. The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Maintenance Controller (Aircraft)

  • POSITION SUMMARY

    The Maintenance Controller will coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Company Aircraft at outstation locations to ensure timely return to service. Coordinate with other departments internally as well as outside vendors to ensure flight safety, compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies, and minimize operational interruptions.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Reports current fleet status and any pertinent maintenance activities to Senior Director, Maintenance on a regular basis.
    • Coordinates maintenance operational issues; AOGs (aircraft on ground), delays, mechanical interruption’s, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance with the Operation Control Center (OCC), Flight Ops, Flight Control and Traffic departments.
    • Coordinates with maintenance, maintenance production planning, stores and quality control inspection, providing current and continuing follow-up to ensure positive corrective action is made as promptly as possible for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance.
    • Ensures ETOPS compliance, determines post-maintenance ETOPS conformity and suitability for ETOPS operations at outstations
    • Calculates oil consumption rates for ETOPS and ensures compliance with post-maintenance ETOPS verification program.
    • Administers and controls use of Minimum Equipment List (MEL), Configuration Deviation List (CDL) and Deferred Maintenance Items process to ensure flight safety and regulatory compliance.
    • Evaluates reported aircraft discrepancies and develops appropriate repair or recovery plan.
    • Creates return to service estimates for AOG aircraft
    • Monitors aircraft cycles and flying hours to ensure time-sensitive inspections, scheduled maintenance or MEL/CDL expiration times do not lapse.
    • Identifies and evaluates opportunities to perform maintenance when operational schedules permit.
    • Coordinates administrative processes for aircraft ferry permit authorization.
    • Assists in determining the supplies required, manuals, tasks, parts and tooling for aircraft repair to OMP.
    • Keeps turnover information on aircraft maintenance for respective fleet up to date using OneNote.
    • Maintains Aircraft Status Board to reflect fleet current status.
    • Facilitates operational and maintenance advice and solutions to mechanics and flight crew at line stations.
    • Authorizes the use of Outsource Maintenance Providers
    • (OMPs) contracted to perform maintenance and return aircraft to service.
    • POC for communication and coordination between NAC MX / QC with 3rd party DER for AOG events
    • Responsible for identifying hazards within the Company’s operations and systems, and reporting those hazards through the WBAT or departmental hazard reporting systems
    • Reviews all incoming log pages and maintenance documentation for correctness per GMM and MPM procedures and request corrections when necessary.
    • Maintains reliability with regular attendance and punctuality
    • Contributes to a positive and productive work environment

    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • Must hold a current Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant ratings
    • Need at least one year of experience in a position responsible for troubleshooting and returning company airplanes to service on the 737/400 and or 300 aircraft.
    • Must have acted in a supervisory or relief supervisory capacity within the past five years
    • Must be able to work varied shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends)
    • Need good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders
    • Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
    • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with both abstract and concrete variables
    • Must have a valid passport
    • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check and receive TSA clearance to work in secure area.

    LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

    • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to communicate effectively within the Maintenance Department and with other stakeholders as needed.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Most work is performed in the maintenance hangar or outdoor airline ramp.
    • May be exposed to adverse weather conditions (cold and heat), wet surfaces and icy conditions.
    • Will be working around stationary and moving aircraft and aircraft ground equipment
    • Use of personal protective equipment may be required

    PHYSICAL EFFORT:

    • The employee must frequently move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, or tools.
    • The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms (full range of motion); climb or balance; and stoop, kneel; crouch, or crawl.
    • May be required to work in confined spaces for extended periods
    • The employee must have the ability to climb and stand on ladders for up to two hours.
    • The employee will need to see, speak and hear.
