Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises the maintenance operations of aircraft airframes and engines to ensure safe and reliable performance. Oversees routine servicing and preventative maintenance to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor evaluates technical requirements to determine the tradeoffs between the repair versus the replacement of components and the effect on cost and safety. Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor informs and trains aircraft mechanics on current information from manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Coordinates and schedules inspections and follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a manager. The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Job Responsibilities:

    • Perform all duties of the job classification.
    • Assign and direct the productive efforts of assigned employees to ensure the timely completion of all required maintenance.
    • Coordinate all maintenance-related actions with other affected work centers.
    • Authorize cannibalization actions as required.
    • Instruct assigned employees on proper maintenance methods and procedures as required.
    • Responsible for the satisfactory completion of assigned work and the preparation and maintenance of required records.
    • Formulate necessary reports to the Government.
    • Enforce foreign object damage (FOD), hazardous waste, and tool control programs.
    • Assist in training programs as required for employees assigned to him/her.
    • Ensure required quality control inspections are complied with.
    • Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.
    • May be required to perform simple computer input functions.
    • Perform other related duties as required.
    • Assist as directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of Government/Company-owned equipment.
    • Perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
    • Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.
    • Responsible for the satisfactory completion of all job assignments. Shall maintain discipline by counsel and reprimand when necessary. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to solve complex problems. Ensure safe, quality maintenance/flight line operations to support the Program flight schedule.
    • Requires a high degree of expertise in aviation maintenance. Must have an in-depth knowledge of applicable technical manuals, service bulletins, maintenance manuals, maintenance forms, and work progress sheets. Must be able to pass any Government/Company licensing/qualification requirements for the position.
    • Must have the ability to use good judgment, make sound decisions and effectively direct the work of other employees. Employees designated as Lead must be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
    • Must have the ability to accurately carry out written or verbal orders, instructions, and directives.
    • Must be customer-oriented.

    Qualifications:

    • Shall possess a background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support.
    • Minimum of 10 years experience (within the last 20 years) supervising and assigning program workloads as well as duties for entire shifts of workers performing aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modifications.
    • The 10 years' experience shall include a one-year minimum as a Maintenance or Production Control Supervisor.
    • Shall act as the Assistant Maintenance Officer and Maintenance Material Control Officer for the purpose of fulfilling qualification and programmatic duties IAW COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 (series).
