Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises the maintenance operations of aircraft airframes and engines to ensure safe and reliable performance. Oversees routine servicing and preventative maintenance to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor evaluates technical requirements to determine the tradeoffs between the repair versus the replacement of components and the effect on cost and safety. Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor informs and trains aircraft mechanics on current information from manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Coordinates and schedules inspections and follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a manager. The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Summary 

    Oversee care and maintenance of all steam, electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical equipment, including welding, gas, and electrical equipment in the plant. Support and enforce SQF/QA, GMP, Safety policies and procedures, and production needs.  “Food Safety and Quality” are the responsibilities of this position. In the absence of the Maintenance Supervisor, responsibilities will be covered by the Maintenance Manager.

    Essential Functions

    • Responsible to maintain and repair all production equipment, including but not limited to pumps, Pasteurizers, homogenizers, evaporators, dryers, churns, valves, baggers, etc.
    • Responsible for maintaining and repairing all support equipment, including but not limited to boilers, air compressors, ammonia compressors, thermal storage units, condensers, vacuum pumps, ammonia systems, air conditioning units, sewer meters, conductivity meters, water meters, etc.
    • Be active in the emergency response team as prescribed by the company Safety Program.
    • Oversee the fabrication and manufacturing of equipment for production needs and ensure such fabrication and manufacturing are by the applicable safety regulations: product and process piping, sanitary equipment, steam lines, chemical lines, pneumatic lines, etc.
    • Documentation of all schematic and diagram changes to keep plant records current.
    • Ensure all Preventive Service Maintenance (PSM) program elements are being adhered to.
    • Responsible for supervision of all Engineers.
    • Responsible for reviewing daily work orders and activity reports.
    • Responsible for all work being done in a timely fashion and properly.
    • Assist in preparing capital project bids.
    • Responsible for preventative maintenance program.
    • Oversee plant projects and account for expenditures for each project.
    • Must be able to comply with Process Safety Management Standards (PSM). 
    • Responsible for the care and maintenance of company tools.
    • Purchasing and Purchase Order control and providing backup and coverage for the Maintenance Parts Procurement Clerk or Purchasing Clerk.
    • Must be able to troubleshoot problems and persist until a solution is found.
    • Must be willing to ask for assistance when the process is unclear.
    • Follow and enforce all safety and working rules.
    • Must be able to get along with co-workers, management personnel, customers, vendors, and employees by company policies and working rules while ensuring a harmonious and conducive work environment.
    • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute towards a quality environment.
    • Excellent regular full-time attendance in support of company objectives.
    • Use initiative and judgment in making decisions, keeping with California Dairies, Inc.'s best interests.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    Supervisory Responsibilities 

    • This position has management and employee supervisory responsibilities in the area of discipline, performance evaluations, Job Training Forms, Incident Reports, and any other documentation.
    • Coordinate on-the-job training.
    • Oversee adherence to company policies and procedures.
    • Oversee scheduling of employees.
    • Have the responsibility of reviewing time sheets and addressing overtime.

    Education and/or Experience

    • Minimum three years experience in a production setting involving electronics, instrumentation, refrigeration, electrical, and general mechanical, with at least one year of supervisory experience.
    • College-level verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with upper management daily.
    • Leadership, team development, coaching, and/or teaching experience.
    • Good math and statistical skills.
    • Excellent computer skills for data input, report writing, and program tracking.
    • Excellent organizational and follow-through skills.

    Language Skills

    English is required as the spoken language. A well-modulated tonal volume is required, with excellent diction skills needed.

    Reasoning Ability

    Must be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions. Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a forklift operator license. Must possess or be able to acquire and maintain a Hazardous Materials Technician Certificate and Pasteurizer’s license.
