Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises the maintenance operations of aircraft airframes and engines to ensure safe and reliable performance. Oversees routine servicing and preventative maintenance to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor evaluates technical requirements to determine the tradeoffs between the repair versus the replacement of components and the effect on cost and safety. Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor informs and trains aircraft mechanics on current information from manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Coordinates and schedules inspections and follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a manager. The Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Lecturer of Aircraft Maintenance for our new Aircraft Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) beginning Fall 2023 at Brunswick Landing. The successful candidate will have experience with subject matter in a wide range of aircraft maintenance and repair, electronics, FAA regulations, physics for AMTS, and mathematical functions.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching and working with students one-on-one. This position will be based at UMA's Brunswick Center. Duties include teaching AMTS courses in a variety of modalities.

    UMA faculty are expected to be excellent teachers, responsive to changing professional needs, committed to innovative delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning, committed to effective use of technology including distance learning, involved in scholarly activities as appropriate to the appointment, and to provide service to the community, College, and University.

    UMA serves a mix of traditional and non-traditional students and offers a wide array of liberal arts and professional programs leading to certificates, associate, baccalaureate, and master's degrees. Programs are delivered on campus and using a network of University centers and sites across the state and internationally. The University offers general education and degree-specific courses using modalities including in-person, hyflex, video conferencing, and online instruction. The successful candidate will be active in university service through student advising, curriculum development, committee activity, and community outreach.

    Salary: A typical salary for this academic year appointment is in the mid-to-high 50s and is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    • Experience with aircraft maintenance and repair, electronics, mathematics, and physics
    • Experience teaching courses in higher education institutions
    • Experience teaching that includes the use of new teaching technologies and delivery systems
    • Experience teaching students at a distance
    • Diverse work experience in the field of airframe and power train areas
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
