Aircraft Mechanic Assistant maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots aircraft components to ensure safe and reliable performance. Conducts routine servicing to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Mechanic Assistant utilizes a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine malfunctioning parts of aircraft engines and assemblies. Follows company protocols to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the hangar or workshop. Additionally, Aircraft Mechanic Assistant recommends part changes or adjustments to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Maintains accurate records of services and procedures performed and documents and reports issues, concerns, and unusual wear or damage of parts. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Aircraft Mechanic Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. POSITION SUMMARY
Maintain property vehicles, tools, and equipment including checking oil, tire pressure/wear, and other preventative maintenance. Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed. Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance, and safety activities. Track status of open maintenance issues using computer, log book, or white board. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, power and manual pallet jacks, four-wheel carts and two-wheel dollies, dock plates, and roll-up doors. Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others and listen and respond appropriately to others. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; and identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
