Aircraft Mechanic (Jet) keeps airplane in safe working condition by servicing engines, engine components, and airframe components. Modifies and replaces parts such as instruments, wiring, and tires. Being an Aircraft Mechanic (Jet) identifies hazardous aircraft conditions and determines when aircraft should not be flown. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Aircraft Mechanic (Jet) may require certification from FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician school. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: This position requires a high school diploma or GED. This position requires ASE Certifications. The individual must also have three years of demonstrated automotive mechanic/technician experience. Experience in supervising staff. The individual must furnish their own hand tools. Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs. Must be at least 18 years of age. Persons hired into this position must be licensed drivers and have reliable transportation. If current license is from out-of-state, a valid Colorado Driver's License is required within ten days of hire. Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed. Current motor vehicle insurance is required. Driving is an essential job duty.
Preferred: Master ASE certifications and/or CDL

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. REASONING ABILITY: Able to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
The Adult Services Director provides supervision of this position. The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Vehicle Maintenance Facility. The Automotive Mechanic will train and manage staff, Individuals in service, interns and volunteers, and supervise/coordinate various related facility activities. The Automotive Mechanic may also work closely with the Chief Executive Officer. In general, this position requires that the individual work independently approximately 95% of the time.
Able to work with others, with system issues, and able to work within designated time frames. Patience in dealing with staff, individuals in service, and parents. Able to develop effective working relationships with staff, individuals in service, and the community. Good communication skills and able to work with others as a team is a must. Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Able to perform duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
