  • Job Summary

    The Lead for A&P will supervise all aspects of staff performing aircraft maintenance.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    (Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)

    • Ensure all work is scheduled and performed in a quality manner, while in a productive, safe, and efficient manner verifying aircraft are safe for flight when finished.
    • Ensure compliance to all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements.
    • Responsible for organization of tools and equipment used to service and repair aircraft.
    • Review and discuss quality and shop performance from the previous day including swing shift.
    • Review the day’s schedule, assign work to properly trained and qualified personnel, and set priorities. Ensure continuity with other shift leads.
    • Coordinate daily planned activities with the manager(s) and other technical leads, to ensure a safe work plan.
    • Provide direct customer support / interface duties when requested. Supervise and follow up on work in progress, outside services, and incoming parts.
    • Track lead times and turn-around times in order to meet or adjust schedules.
    • Read and interpret manufacturers’ maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
    • Work with and support the Program Manager.
    • Train and assist assigned personnel in proper work procedures and practices.
    • Review and approve time for direct reports and address inaccurate punches.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Must have above average leadership, verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a motivated self-starter and able to work without close supervision in a high stress maintenance environment under strict timelines.
    • Provide leadership and supervise aircraft maintenance staff, which includes mentoring and reviewing employee performance, addressing personnel issues, generating and follow up on assignments, setting priorities and ensuring the group is working in a productive manner with quality while maintaining a clean, organized and safe work area in the hangar.
    • Promote company values and ethics; be personally responsible, complete work in a timely manner, and perform tasks accurately; maintain a positive attitude and strong work energy; detail oriented and always come prepared; excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills; work harmoniously with others to get a job done, respond positively to instructions/procedures, and work well with others; must be able to gather information and use data to determine cause and effect for complex problem solving; must have confidence and the ability to be persuasive and assertive.

    Experience & Education

    • High school diploma or GED
    • A minimum of 5 years direct experience in A&P maintenance is required.
    • A&P Certification

     

    Physical Requirements/Working Environment

    • Ability to lift to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to walk short distances.
    • Ability to regularly sit, stand, bend, reach and move about the facility.
    • Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
    • May be required to travel and work off station in support of maintenance recovery or deployed operations as required.
    • The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate to high.
    • May occasionally work near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
