Aircraft Mechanic (Non-Jet) keeps airplane in safe working condition by servicing engines, engine components, and airframe components. Modifies and replaces parts such as instruments, wiring, and tires. Being an Aircraft Mechanic (Non-Jet) identifies hazardous aircraft conditions and determines when aircraft should not be flown. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Aircraft Mechanic (Non-Jet) may require certification from FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician school. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Aircraft Mechanic (Non-Jet) works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be an Aircraft Mechanic (Non-Jet) typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification. BIGHORN AIRWAYS is seeking skilled A&P aircraft mechanics. Bighorn Airways is a diverse aviation company, operating aircraft on USG special operations contracts in Alaska and the Lower 48, as well as overseas. Bighorn Airways operations also include fixed and rotary wing agricultural and charter operations. Additionally, Bighorn Airways operates a busy Part 145 MRO, specializing in DHC-8, CASA 212 and Dornier 228 maintenance, and special mission modifications and avionics.Bighorn Airways has been a leader in the Wyoming aviation community for over 70 years and has been conducting smokejumper and par cargo operations for over 30 years. All positions offered are based in Sheridan, WY with field work requirements as detailed below.
Job Requirements:
Candidates should be mission-focused and put forth the effort and expertise to provide the highest levels of safety, quality, and reliability. Experience with Honeywell TPE 331 series engines, P&W 120/121 engines, and Collins or Garmin avionics, a plus.
Salary range is highly competitive and is based on your experience. Advancement and promotion opportunities are based on demonstrated skills and initiative. Supporting aircraft involved in wildfire suppression often requires short-notice field support missions which can last several days. The ability to complete a 4-6 week rotation to Alaska during the fire season may also be required.
Sheridan, WY is located at the base of the Bighorn Mountains and offers the advantages of small town living and great outdoor opportunities.
