Aircraft Painter applies pre-mixed and blended paint or coating to interior and exterior of assembled aircraft or parts. Prepares surfaces for painting and protects painted surfaces from erosion. Being an Aircraft Painter requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Aircraft Painter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint.
Requirements
• Utilize air sanders, spray guns, sanding blocks, etc. to complete quality work.
• Prepare color tint to match paint color; Mix paint colors, and ensure all formulations, preparations, top coating and curing meet OEM recommended standards for proper application sequence, timing, and materials usage
• Follow all paint manufacturing guidelines.
• Spray test panels for each speaker to ensure color match
• Assist in prep work when necessary
• Maintain clean, orderly, and organized work area
• Comply with Caliber safety rules, guidelines, and standards
• Perform other duties as required to successfully meet the needs of the business Skill/Requirements
• Typically has a minimum of 5-8 years of refinishing experience
• Auto Body Vo-Tech certificate or ASE certification in refinishing preferred
• Comply with all safety requirements, respirator safety, and fitment/usage. Maintain compliance to pass required safety mask fit test.
• Ability to effectively communicate with others, oral and written
• Advanced communication to mentor/coach/train apprentices as required
• Ability to read and understand basic instructions and work orders
• Multi-taking; adapts easily to fast-paced environment
