Aircraft Painter applies pre-mixed and blended paint or coating to interior and exterior of assembled aircraft or parts. Prepares surfaces for painting and protects painted surfaces from erosion. Being an Aircraft Painter requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Aircraft Painter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Essential Functions
Individual performs all of the necessary duties associated with painting tasks: preparation, removal, and application of surface material with either roller or brush.
Individual erects, moves, and works from scaffolds or ladders.
Individual mixes and matches paint and stains by using proper pigments, base, and thinner.
Individual selects the proper paint (latex, oil, etc…) to cover the existing surface.
Individual applies paints, stains, sealers, varnishes, fillers, and other coating materials to interior and exterior surfaces of facilities and equipment.
Individual patches plaster and sheetrock by using fillers, tape, spackling compound, patching plasters, and etc…
Individual cleans and maintains equipment, tools and supplies.
Individual must be able to assess and maintain acceptable materials and inventory levels.
Individual must be able to perform courier duties when necessary.
Individual assists other crews as needed.
Individual must be proficient in the use of computers, all associated software, and programs required to complete the daily operations.
Individual must be able to exercise personal and professional judgment, exhibit initiative, and demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision on a daily basis.
Individual performs various other duties as assigned and deemed essential by the director for completion of daily operations.
