Aircraft Painter applies pre-mixed and blended paint or coating to interior and exterior of assembled aircraft or parts. Prepares surfaces for painting and protects painted surfaces from erosion. Being an Aircraft Painter requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Aircraft Painter may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Description
The Painter will apply paints and finishes on industrial hydraulic power units and machines from surface preparation through paint project completion. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Reports to the Shop Foreman.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Evaluate the best type of paint, coating, or finish to be applied to the surface of the machine/power unit.
· Determine the best method of paint, finish, or coating application, e.g. spray paint, brush, etc.
· Prepare the surface of the machine or object for paint or coating application.
· Mix paint, lacquer, and enamel to the specified color, consistency, and viscosity.
· Apply paint, coating, or finish to machines/power units in accordance with the customer’s specifications.
· Complete painting projects in accordance with production schedules.
· Keep track of painting tools and equipment inventory.
· Obtain the manager’s approval to order new tools/equipment if necessary.
· Notify the Manager or Foreman if painting equipment is in need of maintenance or repair.
· Attend training classes or workshops, as determined by the Manager or Foreman.
· Other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
· High school diploma or Graduate Equivalency Diploma (GED) required.
· Wear paint respirator mask when applying paints, coatings, and finishes to machines/power units.
· 2-5 years of experience mixing and applying industrial paints and utilizing spray paint equipment.
· Must be 18 years of age or older.
