Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots aircraft components to ensure safe and reliable performance. Conducts routine servicing to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. utilizes a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine malfunctioning parts of aircraft engines and assemblies. Follows company protocols to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the hangar or workshop. Additionally, Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. recommends part changes or adjustments to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Maintains accurate records of services and procedures performed and documents and reports issues, concerns, and unusual wear or damage of parts. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     GENERAL SUMMARY

    Responsible for the operational performance of the plant including the areas of the workforce, safety, quality, responsiveness, and cost initiatives. Establishes, guides and directs employees to effective results while maintaining knowledge and making changes necessary to make the plant successful. Maintains and improves internal and external communication process while representing the plant at all senior management meetings when required.

    PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Ensure plant attainment of quality and cost objectives.
    • Responsible for establishment of and meeting the plant budget.
    • Ensure long term, cost effective maintenance of equipment and facility.
    • Ensure plant meets planned production schedule and target build to ensure deadlines are met when committed.
    • Provide necessary resources to be in compliance with our safety policy and assure the establishment, implementation and maintenance of safety and review its performance.
    • Communicate key corporate and plant business information to the entire plant workforce.
    • Ensure appropriate level of interactions with engineering on processing, layout and tooling for current and future products.
    • Build an effective management team, lead and motivate employees.
    • Direct continuous improvement practices, as well as safe work practices as the highest priority and establish guidelines for ergonomics, health/safety, and housekeeping.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Minimum of B.A. or B.S. degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum 5 yrs. experience in a management role in the automotive industry.
    • Prior experience with Automotive and/or Defense Contractor is required.
    • Experience with business, financial planning budgets, forecasts.
    • Prior experience working in a unionized environment preferred.
    • Strong analytical skills, risk analysis and decision making.
    • A proven leader, comfortable to work with and be an open, honest communicator with good interpersonal skills.
    • Action-oriented individual who is comfortable with a hands-on approach and delegating where appropriate.
    • Ability to set agendas and take ownership of situations with collaborative, inclusive style.

    PHYSICAL EFFORT

    • Sight: must be able to regularly read computer screen, reports, and various documents with detail and clarity to accomplish work tasks in a safe and efficient manner, including regular use of adequate close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus
    • Hearing: must be able to regularly hear well enough to communicate
    • Hand-Eye Coordination: must be able to regularly coordinate one’s eyes with one’s fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job-related tasks
    • Manual Dexterity: must be able to regularly make quick, accurate, skillful, and coordinated movement with hands and arms to grasp, place, move, or use objects such as phone, computer, and other office equipment, tools, or controls
    • Agility: must be able to regularly bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform job tasks, including the ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, Company’s property surrounding facility, or additional work areas
    • Climbing / Kneeling: must be able to occasionally climb, kneel, bend over, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, with balance
    • Lifting: must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds with or without assistance
    • Physical Strength: must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull, or carry objects using hands, arms, back, abdominal muscles, shoulders, legs, or a combination of these muscle groups
    • Stamina: must be able to occasionally exert oneself physically over long periods of time, including performing repetitive or strenuous tasks as well as standing and sitting for long periods

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Physical Location: This position operates between an office and manufacturing plant environment and is often assigned to a specific shift or hours. The Employee must be able to perform job functions in an environment with varying difficult work conditions such as extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, at heights, and/or while exposed to constant/intermittent loud noises
    • Teamwork: This position will work with others to ensure efficiency in the workplace
    • Listening Skills: This position will need to understand how to use machinery properly and safely to prevent accidents and ensure all tasks are completed accurately
    • Ability to follow instructions: Managers assign tasks and responsibilities, which vary; this position should be able to follow instructions competently
    • Methodical approach: Production lines follow a set process, so this position needs a methodical approach to ensure all tasks are completed in the correct order for a smooth-running production line
    • Concentration: This position may perform the same or similar tasks repeatedly, so a strong level of concentration when carrying out these tasks is important for quality control purposes. This role is often fast paced, so being able to maintain focus at all times is important
