Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots aircraft components to ensure safe and reliable performance. Conducts routine servicing to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. utilizes a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine malfunctioning parts of aircraft engines and assemblies. Follows company protocols to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the hangar or workshop. Additionally, Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. recommends part changes or adjustments to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Maintains accurate records of services and procedures performed and documents and reports issues, concerns, and unusual wear or damage of parts. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Airframe and Engine Mechanic, Sr. works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     The Lowell School District seeks an outstanding, highly qualified science teacher.

     

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The science position includes teaching in grades 7-8 and high school science subjects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity, through Common Core State Standards alignment, to reshape the science curriculum along with other Lane County science specialists.

     

    MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. The teacher plans for student success based on assessed needs of individual students and the use of data and information to determine each student’s current knowledge and skill level, set student learning goals, and assess student progress. As part of the planning process, the teacher leads or assists in identifying and in complying with teaching and learning and student accommodation requirements under Individual Education Plans (IEP). 
      2.  The teacher works collaboratively in a professional learning community with other teachers, support staff, multi-disciplinary teams, and others as appropriate, in addressing the needs of students and developing effective teaching and learning practices. Through collaborative practices, the teacher provides appropriate consultation and interventions for students at risk and facilitates the identification of students for Special Education when appropriate.
      3.  The teacher regularly conducts planning for lessons using commonly accepted professional practice (content, goals, assessment, re-teaching, etc.) and consistent with school/district approved curriculum and instructional practice. 
      4.  The teacher maintains and provides reasonable and meaningful student grading, progress monitoring and evaluation consistent with school and district policy and regularly and effectively communicates such information to students and parents.  
      5.  The teacher integrates district approved and/or required technology into planning, learning, progress reporting, and required record-keeping activities including the preparation of IEPs. 
      6.  The teacher creates, communicates, and maintains classroom management practices that effectively engage students in the learning process. 
      7. The teacher facilitates and/or participates, at least annually, with IEP team to review student progress and to evaluate the appropriateness of the Individualized Education Program.
      8. The teacher facilitates and/or participates, at least every three years, with the IEP team to reevaluate all students with disabilities in order to determine if student remains eligible for services.
      9. The teacher designs and implements record keeping and communication procedures, to ensure that information gathered to identify and evaluate students is kept confidential.
      10. The teacher provides training and on-going support to assigned support staff within their classroom or program to include strategies, techniques and resources deemed appropriate in a students’ behavior support plan and/or instructional plan.
      11.  The teacher actively participates in staff, academic team, child study team, in-service and curriculum meetings.
      12.  The teacher is constantly observant of the needs and challenges of students and promptly engages an administrator or appropriate educational staff associates when appropriate.
      13.  The teacher will establish a professional growth plan and annually review the plan and progress with the administrator. 
      14.  The teacher will perform such other duties and responsibilities as are assigned.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

     

    The Applicant Must:

    • Have an Oregon Teaching License to teach science in grades 7-12.
    • Collaboratively plan and implement an effective, evidenced-based program that aligns with other grades, Common Core State Standards and district goals.
    • Provide instruction and guide the student learning process toward the achievement of clearly identified learning objectives that meet the needs, interests and ability of the students.
    • Assess student learning and adjust instruction on a regular basis to meet the demonstrated needs of the students.
    • Be able to model "Smarter Balanced" summative assessment.
    • Maintain a classroom environment conducive to student learning.
    • Have high expectations for students – academically, behaviorally and individually.
    • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, between administration, staff, parents, students, and the community.
    • Have knowledge about the role of the classroom teacher in executing individual student plans including IEPs, and 504s.
    • Be organized and flexible.
    • Maintain an on-going personal program of professional growth and development.
    • Participate on school-level teams that analyze student data and make decisions about appropriate instructional supports to enhance student learning.
    • Have an understanding of student engagement strategies and effective lesson design.
    • Be able to use technology in the classroom and the workplace.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal and/or superintendent.
