    Bachelor’s degree required in Philanthropy, Public Relations, Business, Communications, Marketing, Student Development or a closely related field

    Experience required to ensure success in this position:
    Three or more years direct experience

    Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting with many different groups, from students to alumni
    Strong organizational skills and capacity to set priorities; attention to detail is essential
    Ability to prioritize and work independently without direct supervision
    Ability to successfully manage event planning and execution
    Computer competency including data entry, word processing, familiarity with Microsoft Office products— Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint—and other platforms used by the ACP division
    Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect the private nature of files and conversations

    License, certification, or registration necessary:
    Valid driver’s license
    Required background checks

    Physical requirements:
    Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds
    Ability to travel independently by car and/or plane
    Ability to occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.

    Environmental conditions:
    Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty
    Travel required for meetings, conferences, events, etc.

    Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:
    Standard office equipment: computer, fax, phone, etc.
    Vehicle – college vans/cars

    Summary:

    The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement plays a key role within Alumni Philanthropy and is responsible for planning, organization, implementation, and assessment of projects. Significant responsibilities include engagement with alumni (e.g., volunteering time and/or talent), oversight of e-blasts and Newsletters and other communications from the unit, and coordination of alumni events, in-person and virtually. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Alumni Philanthropy and the SAVP, this position will manage programs related to engagement and philanthropy and collaborate with staff in Berea Fund and others in Philanthropic Operations. Superior communication and organizational skills are essential as is creative problem solving and managing multiple projects. Evening and weekend work and some travel is required.

    Primary Duties Responsibilities:

    Communicate with co-workers, students, faculty, staff, alumni and contractors in a professional manner.
    Oversee e-blasts and Newsletters and Summer Reunion and Homecoming information.
    Be the focal point for effective alumni events, especially in-person (e.g., Summer and Foundation reunions and Homecoming) but also virtual events.
    Develop and manage relations with a broad pool of potential, current, and past volunteers for programs such as Move-In Day and other opportunities such as alumni mentoring.
    Develop processes and procedures for selection, training, deployment, support, feedback and assessment of alumni volunteers in general.
    Develop processes and procedures to optimize experience gained by volunteers and its use to inform the overall program evolution.
    Collaborate with Berea Fund staff to achieve effective programs, including reunions, Giving Day, etc.
    Support and collaborate in engagement efforts with students that educate and prepare them to be engaged alumni, such as planning, design, and execution of events including but not limited to:
    Senior Celebration
    GradFEST
    Great Conversations
    Student Send-Off Events
    Move-In Day
    Manage evidence-based initiatives and offerings attentive to the meta goals for alumni engagement.
    Promote and support career services opportunities by collaborating with staff in OICD.
    Implement innovative segment engagement programs—(young alumni, seniors, e.g.)—and weave into signature and regional programming providing networking opportunities for students and alumni, as outlined by Taylor Group.
    Travel as necessary.
    Work as a team member within the division, department, and across campus to align goals with strategic objectives and develop inclusive perspective of alumni as important core constituents.

    Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
