    Position Summary:
    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Assistant Director of Arts Alumni and Community Engagement reports to the Director of Graduate Alumni Engagement. In partnership with the Director, the Assistant Director manages arts alumni and arts community engagement related to the Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) and the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), developing, implementing and supporting a wide range of engagement programs and communications serving these communities. The Assistant Director will share in the duties of officially representing the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement, University Relations, and Advancement at on-and-off-campus events. While staying focused on independent programs and projects, the Assistant Director will work in a team setting where responsibilities of planning and implementing initiatives involve volunteers, other Advancement staff, and colleagues across the University.

    This position is primarily responsible to interact, engage, nurture and grow connections to the University with alumni and community members connected via their degree or affinity for the arts in relation to the Pacific Northwest College of Art and the College of Arts and Sciences.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:
    • Works to ensure that engagement goals and strategies are aligned with deans and key staff partners.
    • In partnership with supervisor, develops annual and multi-year engagement goals for arts alumni and friends in relation to the Pacific Northwest College of Art and the College of Arts and Sciences, producing plans and strategies that marshal resources toward achieving stated goals informed, and measured regularly, by data.
    • Cultivates and stewards strong partnerships with the Directors of Development for the PNCA and the CAS in the implementation of strategic engagement operations.
    • Develops a strong partnership with Willamette Annual Fund and other Advancement staff to ensure thoughtful coordination between offices.
    • Identifies, develops, implements and sustains programs and activities that best serve and effectively meet the identified needs of the PNCA and CAS alumni and friend communities. These include regional activities, continuing education opportunities, networking, robust volunteer opportunities, special events, etc.
    • Implements effective event management practices to ensure programmatic goals and objectives are met.
    • Attends community arts events, gallery openings, etc., to further the engagement of PNCA and CAS alumni and friends.
    • In partnership with communications colleagues, helps to coordinate and contribute to regular and special alumni communications and social media channels.
    • Effectively manages projects and resources, directing program improvement, standardizing office systems and procedures to accomplish projects and tasks.
    • Manages, maintains, and effectively stewards program budget.
    • Responds to constituent outreach in a timely, helpful, and appropriate fashion while recording constituent information in RE, including engagement notes, and notifying appropriate staff.
    • Helps staff the Alumni Board of Directors and specific committees and volunteer groups actively in support of PNCA.
    • Supports Alumni Reunion Weekend and other University signature activities. Represents Willamette as needed at regional events; occasionally visits alumni to identify, cultivate, and recruit volunteers.
    • Other duties as assigned.



    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.
    • A minimum of one year of related work experience.
    • Demonstrated success in work organization, as well as program, project, and time management.
    • Proven ability to work independently as well as the ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment with a mix of deans, faculty, alumni, parents, students, and staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively inform, motivate, train and support colleagues and volunteers.
    • Knowledge of modern data management practices and techniques including data-based computerized information systems, data modeling, and models of analysis that leads to effective decision making on behalf of the program.
    • Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Raiser's Edge.

    • Ability to set collaborative goals and to see projects to completion in reflection of said goals.
    • Able to maintain confidential information, navigate relationships with finesse, and work to the highest ethical standards as outlined by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
    • Attendance and punctuality, sense of humor, and a positive team-oriented attitude are highly valued.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends for events and activities.

    Must possess a valid Oregon driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.
