JOB SUMMARY
This position provides oversight for the strategic development of programs and activities fostering an active, inclusive alumni community, increasing membership in and engagement with the Alumni Association, and building a strong pipeline for future alumni, annual and planned gifts, and advocacy. This position is also responsible for a comprehensive alumni events strategy and plays a crucial role in the planning, development, and implementation of broad fundraising campaigns for alumni, which includes managing an alumni gift prospect portfolio; and performs related duties as assigned. This class works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision. The position reports to the Director of Philanthropy and Engagement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manages alumni gift prospect portfolios and creates individual donor development plans.
- Plans, coordinates, develops, and implements an alumni relations program to increase alumni fundraising and meaningful alumni engagement, which may include alumni and volunteer recognition banquets, receptions, homecoming, and reunions.
- Identifies alumni gift prospects and streamlines alumni functions into annual fund activities and major gift pipelines when possible.
- Develops alumni affinity groups that align with key academic, athletic, and extra-curricular programs and activities throughout the College.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive schedule of alumni events (including, but not limited to, reunions, Alumni Weekend, and Victory Day) which includes goal setting; event logistics, including timeline and program, scripts, selection of venue, etc.
- Developments a comprehensive communications plan, including coordination, segmenting, writing, and mailing of all invitations, social media campaigns, email solicitations, alumni board/staff personalized asks; and alumni volunteer coordination and engagement.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates a strategy for the Alumni Association, including goal setting, membership targets, and increased participation.
- Oversees Alumni Association committees.
- Develops and administers programs that incorporate best practices in donor-centered alumni engagement and fundraising to ensure all solicitations follow priorities developed by Office of Advancement leadership.
- Makes recommendations to leadership (including the Director of Philanthropy and Engagement and the President) concerning the identification, cultivation, and/or solicitation of alumni prospects and donors.
- Maintains documentation of all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in the College’s Raiser’s Edge database and other appropriate alumni and donor files.
- Proposes alumni-centric content for the College’s website and social media accounts in collaboration with the College’s marketing department.
- Develops and presents educational programs for alumni, including lectures, seminars, and workshops.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration or closely related field.
- Three (3) years of experience in the planning, development, and implementation of broad fundraising campaigns in a college environment.
- Prior experience managing alumni gift prospect portfolios and creating individual donor development plans.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, utilizing Outlook, Word, Excel and Microsoft Teams, and/or related database and other software necessary to create and maintain appropriate alumni and donor files.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
