    Summary:

    The Associate Vice President of Ambulatory Services (AVP) will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, long-term growth and overall success of outpatient services delivered by Northern Light Acadia Hospital and Northern Light Acadia Healthcare (hereby referred to as “Acadia”). Specific responsibilities include strategic planning, business plan development and execution, operational performance, budgeting, analysis, leadership development, and other functions required to ensure that the services are operating at the highest level of efficiency and reliability. The AVP is also responsible for working with their clinical dyad partners to ensure the organization is delivering high quality and cost-effective services with careful attention to patient/caregiver satisfaction and outcomes. To be successful, the individual in this position must have strong analytical skills and a willingness to make rapid changes, be able to lead by influence, embrace safety, quality, and service as their top priorities, value relationship-building and collaboration among all NLH and community members, possess excellent verbal and written communication, and presentation skills, embody the attributes of ownership and accountability, be an effective manager of people, processes, and situations, maintain a high ethical standard

    Responsibilities :

    • Lead by example and insure all employees promote the mission and philosophy by displaying behavior consistent with Acadia's core values.
    • Set expectations and insure all employees anticipate patient/customer needs and implement new and innovative ways to meet their needs.
    • Work with management and medical/clinical staffs to identify new business opportunities or joint ventures for expanding services and market share.
    • Serve as the “face” of the service in the community to manage the continuum of outpatient services in the areas of referral sources, community partnerships, governmental agencies, Northern Light members, and patients, families, and guardians
    • Planning and Achievement — Identify critical needs and develop and implement goals related to needs.
    • Communication — Regularly meet with employees to ensure employees at all levels understand what the most critical issues are facing the team, unit, department, and/or the Northern Light Health system. Utilize face to face communications (not email) when delivering sensitive or challenging messages. Encourage participation and discussion.
    • Flexibility/Change Agent — Take intelligent risks, set high levels of expectation and challenge/encourage others to participate in the change process required to deliver excellence. Employ process engineering to continually seek out ways to streamline operations, improve outcomes, and eliminate waste in the process of delivering care.
    • Team/Employee Development — Train, coach, and mentor fellow team members/employees to maximize their potential.
    • Dyad – Work collaboratively with dyad partner on clinical operational issues for which partnership efforts are required to meet pre-defined objectives.
    • Performance Improvement — Develop and recommend performance improvement initiatives that contribute to improving quality services and productivity. In partnership with clinical Dyad partner and other members of leadership, coordinate such activities with performance improvement.
    • Compliance — Develop knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements. Interpret and enforce departmental compliance with regulatory standards in collaboration with Acadia's Chief Compliance Officer.
    • Assist in maintaining a work environment free from recognized hazards that create a risk of injury to employees, patients, or visitors and that all accidents and incidents are reported by employees and properly investigated. When appropriate, assist with the return of all workers with work related injuries or illnesses to gainful employment.
    • Ensures that all programs have a consistent and timely customer satisfaction response process in place.
    • Monitors service performance with respect to agreed upon objectives.
    • Establishes high standards of performance, communicates such expectations effectively and holds employees accountable to those high standards.
    • Represents Acadia at the local, state, and national level through committee appointments, Board memberships, professional organization, and other activities.
    • Identify opportunities to strengthen Acadia’s financial position.
    • Develop rolling twelve-month departmental budgets. Analyze and monitor budgets on an on-going basis for consistency with budget objectives.
    • Prepare periodic, meaningful presentations on service line operations and financial outcomes vs. budget. Make every effort to contain or reduce costs while growing revenue.
    • Provides recommendations for appropriate actions and strategies to respond to projected economic trends and/or regulatory changes.
    • Support leaders in developing revenue, expense, and capital budgets.
    • Ensures and develops an annual capital budget for areas of responsibility and performs cost-benefit analysis for all major capital budgets.
    • Proficient with LEAN principles and able to use to optimize productivity, cost- effectiveness and efficiencies. Leads the interdisciplinary team on cost per case work that eliminates unnecessary waste and delivers quality outcomes.
    • Ensures appropriate coding and charging systems are being utilized for both hospital and physician billing.
    • Ensure monitoring of revenue cycle functions is timely and up to date to help establish best practices and promote patient satisfaction.
    • Ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability by requiring business plans prior to any service changes.
    • Work collaboratively with leadership to maintain an exceptional reputation for quality and service for all outpatient services.
    • Develops and implements strategies and tactics related to goals derived from strategic plans.
    • Stays apprised of community health and behavioral health needs, emerging healthcare trends and technologies – marrying these areas at the service delivery level.
    • Work collaboratively with medical staff, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists, and other providers on practice management, workforce development and recruitment, and other operational matters.
    • Ensure all aspects of practice management functions (scheduling, productivity, customer satisfaction, etc.) are high-performing at all times.
