    Job Summary

    Under the direction of the Vice President, Chief Operating Officer for Childrens Hospital of Michigan (CHM), supports the delivery of ambulatory care across specialties, and provides operational leadership to clinical operations in both hospital-based and outpatient ambulatory settings for CHM.

    • Responsible for developing and/or organizing systems and/or programs common to all ambulatory clinics including but not limited to, facilities planning and maintenance for multiple ambulatory facilities, information systems, policies and procedures for regulatory compliance, medical record information flow, patient satisfaction, patient flow and access across services, policies and procedures for regulatory compliance, service availability and quality management/improvement.
    • Works in partnership with administrative and physician leadership of the organization to develop, implement and monitor the financial and business operation plans required to manage the infrastructure of multiple service lines and to support multiple physician practices within the assigned services.
    • Supports the strategic direction set by the organizational leadership in setting short and long-term strategic goals for physician relations within the practice referral base, performance improvement, operational efficiencies and financial judiciousness.
    • Develops plans to meet the needs of the patient population as it relates to service distribution within facilities serving multiple clinical service lines.
    • Working through subordinate personnel directs services, operations, and ambulatory sites/specialties by providing leadership and strategic direction.
    • Approves procedures/protocols and/or seeks other departmental approvals as appropriate.
    • Approves personnel actions such as hires, fires, disciplines, and ensures timely completion of performance appraisals.
    • Collaborates with ambulatory services managers to achieve consistency within ambulatory operations hospital-wide.
    • Organizes services required to manage the infrastructure of facilities serving multiple service lines, as well as support for physician practices.
    • Assists in development of budgets and performance metrics for areas of responsibility.
    • Creates a culture of service and continuous improvement. Works closely with patient care areas and support departments to address and resolve physician and patient issues.
    • Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies.
    • As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations.
    • Ensures hospital departments achieve objectives for diversity of their suppliers.


    Qualifications:
    1. Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Care Administration or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's preferred.
    2. 2. Five to seven years of progressively more responsible experience in ambulatory operations, facilities administration, physician practice administration, management services organization or related area including three years leadership/supervisory experience.

    3. Previous experience with physician practice information systems and/or the development of a management services organization preferred.
