Ambulatory Services Director directs the staff and programs of the ambulatory services department. Oversees, administers, and coordinates all activities and operations of the ambulatory services for the health care facility, including outpatient clinics, outpatient surgery, and urgent care centers. Being an Ambulatory Services Director develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for ambulatory services and programs. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Ambulatory Services Director ensures non-emergency care clinics operate within budget and in accordance with performance standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Ambulatory Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     • The Sr. Director of Acute Ambulatory Services is responsible for the oversight of key programs for substance use disorder, psychiatric, and co-occurring treatment within multiple Maine Behavioral Health (MBH) Hospital outpatient departments: Substance Used Disorder (SUD) Hubs, including all Integrated Medication Assisted Treatment (IMAT) programs, the Psychiatric Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) throughout MBH.

      Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working with department leaders and medical directors, the Senior Director plans and directs key programs and supports the overall management of the department consistent with the vision and values of MaineHealth and MBH. With a staff of over 50 and three direct reports, the Senior Director will ensure excellence in patient care, compliance with regulatory agencies, and fiscal responsibility.

    • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
      • Education: Master’s degree in social work or an equivalent graduate professional degree.
      • License/Certifications: Independently fully licensed to practice in Maine, and provide supervision to staff.
      • Experience: 5 years of progressive mental health program management and broad based clinical experience required.
      • Professional level of knowledge of mental health systems, human resources, and organizational management generally acquired through master level education or extensive management experience.
      • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills required to work with staff, hospital personnel, community agencies, other providers and patients and their families.
      • High level of analytical ability to identify system issues and resolve complex problems.
      • Excellent organizational skills, ability to make independent decisions and be able to develop and institute new programs and processes.
      • Substantial judgment required for developing strategies to enhance the functioning of the system and resources.
      • Demonstrated capacity to provide effective management of complex program funding and expense structures.
      • Ability to assimilate and analyze significant complex data and statistics and to make relevant and realistic recommendations.
      • Ability to train, coach, counsel, and delegate to staff, appraise performance, and develop staff for future leadership opportunities.
      • Strong leadership skills including, change management, flexibility and organizational skills.
