Ambulatory Services Director directs the staff and programs of the ambulatory services department. Summary of Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Animal Services Administrator, performs supervisory duties in enforcing County ordinances pertaining to animal control and rabies enforcement; responsible for the daily operations of Animal Services.
Illustrative Examples of Work
1. Responsible for supervision of field services consisting of rabies control, apprehension of straying domestic animals and enforcement of various State, County and Local municipal animal related ordinances. Cruelty investigation and animal rescue.
2. Responsible for shelter services, consisting of care and maintenance of approximately 5,000 animals annually and the Sheltering facility, grounds and vehicle fleet. Assist with the oversight of the humane care and humane euthanasia of all impounded animals in conjunction with the Administrator and Veterinarian.
3. Responsible for the clerical and administrative services, consisting of maintenance of all related records, fees and public service.
4. Assists with the implementation of various programs aimed at improving service provided.
5. Documents and reports activities and maintains working relationships with various municipalities contracting service, local Veterinarian Association, County Board, and other local and regional animal related interest groups.
6. Provides staff training and development. Responsible for the hiring of personnel, staff evaluations, discipline and the accompanying administrative tasks.
7. Responsible for the processing and maintenance of records concerning personnel, to include payroll and annual raises.
8. Assists with the preparation and oversight of the annual operating budget based on total operational requirements and departmental revenue available.
9. Develops and provides an ongoing community education program aimed at improved animal welfare countywide.
