Ambulatory Services Director directs the staff and programs of the ambulatory services department. Oversees, administers, and coordinates all activities and operations of the ambulatory services for the health care facility, including outpatient clinics, outpatient surgery, and urgent care centers. Being an Ambulatory Services Director develops and introduces approved standards and guidelines for ambulatory services and programs. Maintains working relationships with community agencies. Additionally, Ambulatory Services Director ensures non-emergency care clinics operate within budget and in accordance with performance standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Ambulatory Services Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     The Director of Ambulatory Surgical Programs is responsible for the planning, organizing and directing of all Surgery Center medical and clinical administrative business operations. Develops and mentors an effective management team. Maintains highest levels of privacy and confidentiality and patient care throughout our ambulatory surgery centers.

    Job Duties May Include:

    • Hires, directs and evaluates ASC RN Nurse Managers, Charge Nurses and Supervisory Staff.
    • Assisting facility administration with annual budget reports by communicating the necessity for new equipment, additional personnel or other items that directly improve the operation of the facility.
    • Works with ASC leadership, medical providers and staff to recommend capital acquisitions for improved patient service, improved efficiency and profitability.
    • Maintains effective quality measures and scorecards relating to infection control procedural protocol that ensures patients and staff are not being exposed to disease-causing organisms.
    • Works with Clinic Directors, medical providers and staff to develop and strengthen the concept of team care.
    • Monitors patient satisfaction/feedback for all clinic locations to identify and act upon opportunities for improved service.
    • Maximizes ASC effectiveness utilizing corporate resources appropriately and effectively.
    • Supports policies and strategic initiatives endorsed by the ASC Board of Directors.
    • Reinforces and enhances the reputation of Eye Associates of New Mexico both inside and outside of the Practice.
    • Actively supports and reports on quality measures surrounding medical providers and patient care staff initiatives to improve patient outcomes.
    • Works closely with clinic management staff and medical providers to identify opportunities for reducing operating expenses and enhancing practice revenue.
    • Stays current with changing governmental regulations and ensures surgery center compliance.
    • Works closely with Surgery center management to foster a positive, patient-centered, team-based work environment.
    • Establishes an expectation of the highest level of customer service among ASC leadership staff and holds employees responsible for embracing this standard.
    • Stays attuned to what is happening within each surgery center through regular and effective communication.
    • Analyzes and interprets data related to ASC operations to help guide decisions and execute appropriate action plans.
    • Ensures that work standards, legal procedures and ethical behaviors regarding nursing practices are adhered to at all times.
    • Maintains open channels of communication among Managers in order to enhance operational methods and provide optimal patient care within a medical facility.
    • Remains up-to-date with the latest information about products, equipment, and services relevant to the field of Ophthalmic surgical operations.
    • Creates schedules, implementing staff rotations, and enacting rescheduling needs that address the current demands of the medical facility
    • Supervises regular education-oriented meetings in which state and federal guideline changes are discussed with all clinical staff in addition to any recent developments in the medical field that relates to surgical services and operations.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • RN preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree or preferred, Master’s degree in health care administration, business administration, or public administration preferred, or equivalent work experience.
    • 3-5 years of strong managerial, budgetary, critical and strategic thinking, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Demonstrated courtesy, respect, friendliness, concern and genuine caring when interacting with patients, co-workers or vendors.
    • Clear evidence of a positive attitude, even during periods of stress.
    • Evidence of an ability to facilitate change and exhibit diplomacy and professionalism.
    • Knowledge of policies/procedures to manage multiple budgets, operations and safe, effective patient care.
    • Experience with Clinical and Surgical Provider relationships and interactions.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
    • Willingness and ability to be on site at ASCs travel between EANM locations.
