Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Shift: Days General Summary Under the direction of licensed anesthesia care providers, the Anesthesia technician provides support to anesthesia and surgical team members to prepare the anesthesia equipment for procedures performed in the Operating room and other areas in the hospital. This role assists with the smooth flow of patient care in the OR and other clinical areas as it relates to the provision of anesthesia care services.
Requirements: High school graduate or GED. Knowledge of sterile technique and surgery case set is preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
