Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Job Description:
To assist the Director of Anesthesia, Anesthesiologists, Assistant Director of Surgical Services, Management Coordinator and the charge nurses of the Operating Room in providing the necessary supplies and proper functioning equipment for the practice of Anesthesia at BCHO. To assist the Anesthesiologists and Anesthesia Fellows and Residents in the setup for administration of anesthesia. To assist in the conduction of anesthesia as needed. To provide other specialized technical services as needed.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. AA Degree preferred.
Minimum Experience: Two years experience as an Anesthesia Technician in a similar environment or comparable related training, including chemistry, math, physics or electronics.
Certification Required: Basic Life Support Certification required. Anesthesia Technician Certification preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of anesthesia equipment and supplies. Knowledge of proper cleaning and sterilization procedures
