Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Assembles supplies and equipment needed in all procedure areas
Manages inventory ordering and stocking of anesthesia supplies
Prepares medications intravenous solutions and transducers
Assists in the transportation of patients induction of anesthesia and introduction of lines and performs output tests under the supervision of the anesthesiologist
Cleans anesthesia equipment daily and calibrates machinery
Attends pertinent inservice programs
EDUCATION
High school graduate or equivalent
REQUIREMENTS
Ability to type medical documents accurately and efficiently
BLS Healthcare Provider certification American Heart Association required
Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques and hospital supplies
Successful completion of Anesthesia Technician programs
American Society of Anesthesia Technologist and Technicians ASATT certification required
