Anesthesia Technician assists Anesthesiologist by setting-up equipment and preparing medications. Orders, stocks, tests, and maintains anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment. Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. The Anesthesia Technician assists the Anesthesia team in the preparation setup of surgical cases as well as cleaning, maintaining and stocking of the anesthesia equipment and carts between cases. Anesthesia Technicians are also responsible for expediting turnover between cases.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / LICENSURE
Required:
â— High school diploma or equivalent
â— Must have BLS (Basic Life Support) certification at the time of hire or within two (2) weeks after hire.
Preferred:
â— Current certification with the Association of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Required:
â— Minimum of two (2) years previous Anesthesia experience

SPECIAL SKILLS/EQUIPMENT
â— All candidates must pass an Anesthesia Technician exam with a score of 75% or higher (test will be administered by Human Resources).
