    • You will provide software engineering and support services to internal and external customers.
    • You will develop, modify, enhance, and sustain new or existing computer software or utility programs.
    • You will use scientific methods following software assurance and secure coding best practices.
    • You will provide configuration management, software and systems engineering, web development, database development, data architecture design, and technical expertise integrating cutting edge technology solutions.

    Qualifications

    In addition to the Basic Education Requirements for this position, you may qualify for this position with either specialized experience OR education OR with a combination of experience and education.

    FOR THE ND-03: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional SCIENTIST: Applies security principles for software threats and vulnerabilities; develops software engineering; utilizes standard security testing tools, AND applies security-coding techniques.

    FOR THE ND-04: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional SCIENTIST: Manages security software threats and vulnerabilities; develops software engineering in multiple programming language structures and frameworks; designs system processes including security objectives AND applies security-coding techniques.

    Education

    Bachelor's degree in computer science

    OR

    Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

    You may also qualify for this position with the following education OR with a combination of experience and education.

    FOR THE ND-03: 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree
    OR
    Master's or equivalent graduate degree
    OR
    Combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equals one hundred percent.

    FOR THE ND-04:

    3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree
    OR
    Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
    OR
    Combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equals one hundred percent.
