Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Control Officer to join our team. As an Animal Control Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing animal control laws and regulations, ensuring the welfare and safety of animals, and promoting responsible pet ownership. Duties:

-Provide animal care, including but not limited to cleaning kennels, feeding and watering of animals
- Respond to calls regarding abused or stray, injured, vicious, sick, or aggressive animals
- Capture and safely handle animals using appropriate techniques
- Investigate reports of animal cruelty, neglect, or abuse
- Issue warnings or citations for violations of animal control laws
- Educate the public on responsible pet ownership and animal welfare
- Conduct inspections of animal facilities to ensure compliance with regulations
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports
- Assist with the transportation and disposal of deceased animals
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies on investigations involving animals

Experience:

Experience in caring for animals, preferably in an animal shelter environment, valid driver’s license and graduation from a standard high school. Must be able to work weekends and holidays when necessary.

- Previous experience in animal control, law enforcement, or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of animal behavior, handling techniques, and relevant laws and regulations
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with the public and other agencies
- Ability to handle conflict situations calmly and professionally
- Proficient in report writing and maintaining accurate records
- Familiarity with criminal investigation procedures is a plus
- CPR certification is desirable

Skills:
- Animal handling: Ability to safely handle various types of animals using appropriate techniques
- Conflict management: Skill in resolving conflicts or difficult situations involving animals or individuals
- Report writing: Proficiency in documenting incidents, investigations, and other relevant information accurately and comprehensively
- Criminal investigation: Understanding of investigative techniques and procedures related to animal-related offenses
- Surveillance: Ability to conduct surveillance activities to gather evidence or monitor animal behavior
- Loss prevention: Knowledge of strategies to prevent loss or harm to animals in various situations
- Law enforcement: Familiarity with applicable laws, regulations, and procedures related to animal control and welfare
- Leadership: Ability to take charge of situations and provide guidance to others in the team
