Determines and evaluates their applications to scientific study. Being an Animal Scientist requires a degree in animal science. May be expected to have an advanced degree in area of specialty with 0-2 years of experience. Additionally, Animal Scientist has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Needy Paws Animal Shelter has been helping homeless cats and dogs throughout the River Valley since 1997. Our staff members, volunteers and board of directors, in coordination with local veterinarians, work together with the mission of placing healthy, adoptable pets into loving, forever homes.

Needy Paws Animal Shelter exists to provide safe, loving care to the homeless animals in our community, as well as education and support to pet owners. We are looking for compassionate individuals that share our passion and are motivated by creating a better world for animals.
Needy Paws Animal Shelter is seeking candidates who want to make a difference for animals in the Johnson County, AR area as an Animal Care Specialist. This position not only cares for the animals but their environment as well. There is constant on-the-job training with this position.
Are an Animal Care Specialist?
You are 18 years of age or older?
Do you have a valid drivers license?
Do you have a clean driving record?
Do you have any animal care training outside of owning your own pets?
Do you enjoy learning new things, and are great at following directions?
Do you play by the book and don’t cut corners - the “right way” is NOT always the “easy” way!
Not afraid to get dirty?
You wouldn’t be described as having a “weak stomach”.
Are fast on your feet - both literally AND when it comes to thinking through tough situations.
Do you appreciate the value of working hard - and are you a team player
Do you have passion for animals, and an understanding of the environment the animals are currently in, they are scared and may not like you.
Can you bend, stand, stoop, kneel, and lift 55 pounds unassisted, daily
We use computer programs to access timeclock and animal records, do you have basic computer skills?
Are you available to work weekday mornings, if needed?
Are you available to work weekends, if needed?
Are you available on afternoons until 6pm?
This is a part time position consisting of 24-32 hours, with full-time availability considerations for the right candidate. Weekday and/or Weekend hours are required.
