Responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing effective herd reproductive and health programs for commercial dairy farm. Specific duties include: (1) managing, evaluating, and developing animal breeding protocols, including performing artificial insemination, heat detection, and pregnancy detection; (2) analyzing genetic traits of individual animals and determining which pairs to breed to constantly improve the herd's genetic composition; (3) implementing calving and calf rearing program to achieve minimal losses and ensure high-quality replacements are available for the herd; (4) implementing herd maternity/obstetrics protocols, including vaccinating pregnant cows/calves and administering colostrum to newborn calves; (5) maintaining detailed records of all herd reproduction and health programs; (6) evaluating and implementing animal health programs to maintain herd health, including diagnosing and treating cows with mastitis, lameness, and other health problems that affect fertility, milk quality, and overall animal health; (7) administering vaccinations and medications; and (8) developing nutritional plans for herd to maximize dairy production and promote overall health.Housing benefit available in exchange for rent.
