Animal Scientist jobs in Pascagoula, MS

Responsible for overseeing all veterinary medical activities under the guidelines of the Animal Shelter and the Jackson County Leash Law Ordinances by Jackson County policies and procedures. Assist the Veterinarian with care, treatment, and monitoring. Administer injections such as anesthetics, pain medications, vaccinations, and other medications under the advice of the Veterinarian. Provide treatments and supportive care as directed by the Veterinarian. Intubate animals, place intravenous catheters, perform venipuncture and administer fluids as needed. Monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in preoperative, operative, and postoperative phases. Maintain medical supplies inventory,including emergency drugs,and ensure that supplies are in-date. Ensure that anesthetic machines, pulse oximeters, scales, and other equipment are functional. Stay current in knowledge of emergency drugs and protocols. Maintain patient records and necessary controlled substance drug logs. Communicate effectively and professionally with the public and all JCAS staff members. Know basic veterinary medical concepts including, but not limited to, vaccine protocols and anesthetic risks. Communicate information to clients including Veterinarian documented information about an animal’s condition. Work well both independently and cooperatively as part of a team. Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay: $13.00 - $13.50 per hour
