Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) to assume the role of Veterinary Medical Practice Manager at the Stockton Animal Shelter. In this leadership position, the candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the veterinary medical practices within the shelter, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to animals in need.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Leadership:

• Provide expert veterinary medical care to animals within the shelter, including examination, diagnosis, and treatment.
• Develop and implement medical protocols and standards in alignment with best practices and industry guidelines.

Practice Management:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the veterinary medical practices at the Stockton Animal Shelter.
• Schedule and coordinate veterinary services to optimize efficiency and ensure timely care for all animals.
• Manage and mentor a team of veterinary professionals, including veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Foster effective communication and collaboration with other shelter departments to enhance overall animal care and welfare.
• Coordinate with external partners, rescue organizations, and veterinary professionals to facilitate comprehensive care and treatment options.

Quality Assurance:

• Implement quality assurance measures to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of medical care and identify areas for improvement.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing veterinary practices.

Budget and Resource Management:

• Collaborate with the shelter administration to develop and manage the veterinary department budget.
• Efficiently allocate resources, including medical supplies and equipment, to meet the medical needs of the shelter's animal population.

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid veterinary license in California.
• Proven experience in veterinary practice management or a leadership role.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to animal welfare and a compassionate approach to veterinary care.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in an animal shelter or rescue organization.
• Additional certifications or training in shelter medicine or public health.
