Animal Technician jobs in Lebanon, PA

Animal Technician provides daily care for research animals of various species. Cleans and disinfects cages and equipment. Being an Animal Technician monitors the health and well being of the animals, maintains logs of animal diet, behavior, vital signs and other data. Follows standard operating procedures and all biosafety and animal welfare regulations. Additionally, Animal Technician may perform procedures to collect samples. May transport animals to and from laboratories. Requires a high school diploma. May require Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) or other certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Animal Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Caring Hands Animal Hospital is seeking part-time/full-time Veterinary Technicians to join our team! Our ideal candidate is someone who enjoys client education and has a solid foundation of knowledge in the companion animal field. Must be competent in blood draws, catheter placements, and absolutely have compassion and be enthusiastic about patient care.

    Job Duties

    · Restraint

    · Venipuncture/catheter placement

    · Anesthetic induction and monitoring during surgical and dental procedures

    · Radiographs

    · Answering phones and assisting clients

    · Patient intake and discharge

    · Client education

    · Laboratory sample preparation

    Required Skills/ Qualifications

    · Graduate from an accredited veterinary technician program or 2 years’ experience in the field.

    · Team focused

    · Upbeat and adaptable with a cheerful outlook

    · Excellent communication skills

    · Integrity with the ability to make timely and sound decisions

    · Self-motivated and detail oriented

    · Able to lift up to fifty pounds
