Animal Technician, Sr. jobs in Columbus, MS

Duties

Your priority is to keep the animals safe, comfortable, healthy, and happy. Doing that involves:

• Feeding and watering the pets
• Cleaning, such as hosing out kennels, washing dishes, and doing laundry
• Exercising the dogs
• Welcoming new animals and inputting their information into a computer
• Giving tours and assisting with adoptions
• Pitching in on other duties as needed

We're looking for someone who's eager to learn. You will be learning computer software (ShelterLuv), along with veterinary skills, such as how to recognize certain diseases.

• Good interpersonal skills for interacting with co-workers and the public
• Ability to work well in stressful situations and handle a fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds from floor to waist
• Ability to work for prolonged periods on your feet
• Computer experience — preferably with Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and email
• Fluency in English (speaking, reading, writing)

As a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we're overseen by a volunteer board of directors. Day-to-day operations are run by a few dedicated staff members. We practice no-kill policies, perform community outreach and education, and work to make life better for animals.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $8.00 - $10.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
