Animal Emergency and Referral Associates, an AAHA-accredited veterinary emergency and specialty hospital located in West Caldwell, NJ, is looking to add talented and friendly anesthesia technicians to our centralized anesthesia service. Our anesthesia team is led and supported by a Board-certified Anesthesiologist and a VTS (anesthesia/analgesia) technician, both of whom are personable and brilliant. As one of our technicians, we encourage your growth both personally and professionally, giving you substantial hands-on learning opportunities. We don’t hoard knowledge, and we have no interest in making you feel slow or stupid. But you have to do your part. We are looking for licensed veterinary technicians (or work-related equivalency) that are highly motivated, have a strong work ethic, and can work both independently and as part of a cohesive and happy team.

Primary Job Duties include:

• reviewing patient history and assigning ASA status
• formulating a comprehensive anesthetic plan, calculating drugs, CRIs & fluid rate
• anticipating problems and taking corrective actions when necessary
• having a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of anatomy and landmarks
• prepping patients for surgery
• inducing, monitoring and recovering anesthesia patients
• training in perioperative nursing will be provided before training in anesthesia (time frame dependent on previous knowledge/experience and learning curve)
